Something I noticed at the very start was the couple walking down the stairs and the woman is buttoning up her shirt and the only other woman in this film is basically an object for sex and even called one in her name. Many conventions of Western films, but does have one subversion in the main character. He does try to stop the conflict but we're told immediately after he's killed a child - he is also wearing black - villain.
