This module requires the study of TWO films, ONE 'INDEPENDENT film and one MAINSTREAM film produced in the USA after 2005.  This comparative study requires an analysis of both 'indie' and 'mainstream' cinematic practices, appeals and ideological messages. We must also apply Spectatorship theories to each film and identify the different ways people react to film, and the reasons for this.
