Upon a second watch, "CONNECT" is a brilliant use of the theme of isolation and intrusive thoughts, strung together with technical elements (though, with the inclusion of the confusing narrative at first, it will almost definitely fall on deaf ears for a general passive spectator).
With enigma code after enigma code, as well as a cryptic, non-linear narrative, the film forces the spectator to really think about what is, and isn't, real. An example of this can be seen when a woman is shot and killed on the bus, then is seen alive in the literal next scene, her "killer" standing next to her, leaving an audience confused as to what has just happened.
The binary opposition of the woman and the people on the bus is made as the tight and close camera shots show her and the man's hand nearly touching, until being broken apart by the people getting off (the woman being literally pushed away from both the man and the camera, a visual signifier showing that the closeness of the moment is now gone). This shows the longing that she has for any form of connection in her life.
