Writer: Matthew O'ReganMatthew O'Regan

John Carpenters "Halloween" 1978 is considered to be the first true slasher film open to a mainstream audience. However Albert Hitchcock's "Psycho" 1960 is a prime example of a slasher horror. Friday the 13th in 1980 became a large franchise raising $380,637,525, showing that slasher horror is very popular. However by the start of the 90's slasher horror had fewer films succeeding

Horror aesthetic is dark, grungy and tense. The not knowing is very important in horror movies as it keeps the suspense going throughout. in horror films today, we use ideologies to scare the audience. "keep America great" is a line that Donald Trump states. Showing the chaos and fear Trump's presidency has brought in society.
