A medium close up shot is used as our establishing scene. Doc, one of the protagonists in the film, struggles to fix the wire, sending Marty back to the future. This establishing scene is slightly set at a lower angle, implying the negativity of the situation. During this first scene, high pitched, electronic music is utilised, having connotations of a futuristic setting. Also giving us the genre of the film. Sci-Fi.
Next, a tracking shot is used, tracking the high speed time machine (car) Marty is in. Here, also the setting is slightly shown. A long, wet road. Again, this implies the danger of the situation.
The danger of the situation is further conveyed from the extreme close up, tracking shot of the wheels, screeching.
The extreme, violent weather is also a clear connotation of danger. The wide shot, focuses on the wire Doc is attempting to fix, set at a slight higher angle, implying the vulnerability of not only the Doc, but the wire. Making the audience question, will the wire be able to withstand the harsh weather, and be able to reach Doc?
Further in during the scene, once the Doc finally is able to reach the wire, a wide tracking shot is again used, set at a lower angle the Doc is now positioned higher on the screen, suggesting Doc now has control over the situation. Almost giving him more authority.
This scene ends with a huge explosion over the clock building, while the power finally reaches the car, sending it back into the future, ending on a wide shot of the fire trail.
