The Gunfighter is very typical of the western genre. It is set in a saloon, the lone gunman walks slowly into the saloon. This is very generic of this genre. We then see the standard character types, The Barman, The "Whore" and The Cowboys. All dressed in the typical attire. The Gunfighter is very predictable and we know from the start that there will be a gunfight as this happens in every western.
However it is different to the genre as it isn't a serious gun fight, the irony throughout sets a humorous tone. The main character also comes out as gay, and we see an acceptance of an black barman. This isn't a feature of western. Also the diegetic narration on what the characters are thinking and doing is an example of a twist on the short film. It creates humour and irony, but also continues the narrative forward as without it, the film would have ended a lot sooner as the brothers would have shot the Lone Gunman without any warning. Ending the narrative.
